Our Name
Founder, Bob Hutson always found ways to use academic mathematics in everyday life. This was his way of remembering math formulas for tests he took while attending Tulane University. For example, during the first Persian Gulf War (when Bob was a General Manager with DSC Logistics in New Orleans, LA), Bob actually used calculus formulas to compute the barrel angle variable using the known thrust, speed and velocity of the SCUD missiles to various targets throughout Iraq.
When Bob conducts his site selection strategies, he approaches them like a complex math problem. So, when searching for a name for the new company, he went back to his text books and found old lessons on Symmedians and Symmedian Points. Symmedians are three particular geometrical lines associated with every triangle. The three Symmedians intersect in a single point, the triangle's symmedian point. This is a relatively sophisticated math problem that results in the exact point within the triangle. Finding the exact solution to complex site selection strategies is Symmedian Technologies primary objective.
